“I am a qualified electrical engineer and a mechanical engineer. At present my business is building large commercial catamarans for the fishing industries.
I had a call from Mr. Rex Francis some 5 months ago where he explained to me that he had come across our web site whilst in his endeavor to market a new type of boat anchor. He then asked me if we were experiencing any problems when anchoring our large vessels. My response was basically who doesn’t.
Rex then went on to me about this new anchor that he had designed which he thought could solve some of our problems. At first my thoughts were, it’s just going to be more of the same anchors, which have been around for as long as I can remember. Inventing a better anchor I then believed would be like inventing a better mouse trap.
I must admit I was somewhat skeptical at first. Rex began to explain that this new anchor was not just another anchor, but that his anchor was a new concept that had a lot more to offer than conventional anchor designs. He then explained that the best way he could show me this was by sending me a video.
After viewing this video I must say he had me interested, as innovation is certainly something that’s evident in our business. Its new concept certainly was different and as anchoring our large vessels securely wasn’t possible why not? I then purchased a number 13 anchor, weight 72kg, from Rex on a trial basis. This anchor we fitted to one of our very large fishing cats called STARTREK, 23 metres long, 11 metre beam, weighing around 140 tons loaded.
It’s now been some moths since we fitted what Rex calls his SARCA anchor, sand reef combination anchor to STARTREK and it is fair to say we no longer have an anchoring as such. The SARCA anchor sets rapidly, seemingly regardless of where we drop it and all this with one anchor not three, it’s holding power is second to nothing that I’ve used before.
My crew can now anchor overnight with more confidence and a better nights sleep is had by all by knowing that there is a lot less chance of the vessel drifting on a course of it’s own during the night.
My conclusion on the SARCA anchor are, if you are having problems with your anchor holding don’t think about it, fit a SARCA and try it for yourself an I can only thank Rex Francis for introducing me to his extremely innovative new anchor, well done.”
